The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the following posts in the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology: -
- LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (5 POSTS)
Department of Sustainable Food Production
POST A: Sustainable Production Systems - Livestock Production Systems (2 Posts)
Applicants must have a minimum qualification of an MSc Degree in Sustainable Food Production / Animal Science/Animal breeding and Biotechnology/Health/ Rangeland Ecology/Tropical Resources Ecology/ Sustainable Agriculture and Development or a related field. Applicants must have a BSc honours degree in Sustainable Food Production/Agriculture management/Animal Science/Livestock and wildlife/Health/ Animal Science & Rangeland management/ Sustainable Agriculture and Development or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least four of the following courses : Introduction to Sustainable Food Production, Foundations of Sustainable Food systems, Innovation and Sustainable Food Systems, Principles of Sustainable Development, Integrated Crop and Livestock Production Systems, Sustainable Farming Systems, Animal Production Systems, Introduction to Animal Production and Health, Animal production systems, Livestock management, Global Environmental Issues and Climate change, Food production in a Future Climate, Aquaculture & Food biotechnology. Previous university teaching experience will be an added advantage. Experience in fieldwork related to resilience building and sustainable rural development will also be an added advantage. He/she will be required to supervise undergraduate research projects and participate in research at postgraduate level.
POST B: Sustainable Production Systems - Integrated Production Systems (1 Post)
Applicants must have a minimum qualification of an MSc Degree in Sustainable Food Production/ Agronomy/ Agricultural and Applied Economics/ Animal Science/ Animal breeding and Biotechnology Health, Rangeland Ecology/ Tropical resources Ecology/ Climate Change/ Sustainable Agriculture and Development or a related field. Applicants must have a BSc honours degree in Sustainable Food Production, Agronomy/Crop production/ Agriculture management/ Animal Science/Livestock and wildlife/Health, Animal Science & Rangeland management/ Sustainable Agriculture and Development, or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least four of the following courses: Integrated production systems, Research Methods, Global food and Agricultural policy analysis, Integrated Crop and Livestock Production Systems, Sustainable Farming Systems, Animal Production Systems. Previous university teaching experience will be an added advantage. Experience in fieldwork related to resilience building and sustainable rural development will also be an added advantage. He/she will be required to supervise undergraduate research projects and participate in research at postgraduate level.
POST C: Sustainable Production Systems - Land Use (1 Post)
Applicants must have a minimum qualification of an MSc Degree in Sustainable Food Production/ Spatial Planning/ Land Use Management/, Human Settlements Planning/ Land and Property/ Development Management/ Land Reform and Agrarian Studies/ Urban and Regional Planning/ Soil Science/Health, or a related field. Applicants must have a BSc honours degree in Sustainable land use & Soil Science/Land and water resources or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least four of the following courses: Introduction to Soil Science & Health, Irrigation systems design, Irrigation principles and management, Climate soils and land use, Multipurpose Land Use, Hydroponics, and Sustainable Farming Systems. Previous university teaching experience will be an added advantage. Experience in fieldwork related to resilience building and sustainable rural development will also be an added advantage. He/she will be required to supervise undergraduate research projects and participate in research at postgraduate level.
POST D: Plant Production Systems and Protection (1Post)
Applicants must have a minimum qualification of an MSc Degree in Sustainable Food Production/ Agronomy/ Weed Science/ Plant Health/ Plant Pathology/ Crop Science/ Crop Protection/ Plant Science/ Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology or a related field. Applicants must have a BSc honours degree in Sustainable Food Production/ Crop and soil science/ Agronomy/ Agriculture management or related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least four of the following courses: Introduction to Crop Production and Health, Weed Management, Cropping Systems & Seed production, Plant protection and Biosecurity Crop production principles & practices, Plant genetics and genomics, and/or Agricultural meteorology. Previous university teaching experience will be an added advantage. Experience in fieldwork related to resilience building and sustainable rural development will also be an added advantage. He/she will be required to supervise undergraduate research projects and participate in research at postgraduate level.
- SENIOR SECRETARY/SECRETARY (1 POST)
Department of Sustainable Food Production
Applicants must have minimum qualifications of 5 ‘O’ level passes including English Language plus a National Diploma in Secretarial Studies, or equivalent and at least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification experience. Computer literacy is a must and knowledge of Moodle and EduRole online platforms will be an added advantage. Proficiency in both oral and written English is a must. For senior secretary, a Higher National Diploma in Office Management or equivalent will be required. Applicants must be of mature disposition with initiative, be able to work with minimum supervision. Reliability, honesty, loyalty and dedication are essential qualities.
