Divisions

The Information and Public Relations Department markets the University at Careers Days which are usually organised for High Schools by the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare. An officer from the Department leads a University team comprising representatives of Faculties and other administrative departments like Admissions/Student Records and Student Affairs.

At these careers meetings, all schools that attend get copies of the NUST Corporate brochures, Faculty and Departmental brochures as well as the NUST yearbook.
Media Affairs

The Information and Public Relations Department liaises with the print and electronic media playing the role of chief and official spokesperson for the University. Using the media, it publicises the University’s special functions, runs special newspaper supplements on NUST and attends to all queries from the media. It also attends workshops for media practitioners so as to keep abreast of developments.

The Department maintains an up to date archive of press cuttings of stories on NUST.
University Shop

The Information and Public Relations Department operates a University Shop in which it sells corporate mementoes and other branded corporate gifts. Crockery items on sale include dinner plates and various mugs.The Shop also sells memento leather bags, writing pens, key holders, shirts, ties, bush hats, caps, various T-shirts, mouse pads, desk flags, umbrellas and handbags. In addition, the shop runs a Post Office which also conducts limited POSB banking services.
The Information and Public Relations Department has an office in Harare that is headed by an Information and Public Relations Officer, Mrs Catherine Sibanda. It also has two other support staff.The Harare office performs various official functions on behalf of the entire University outside the Bulawayo campus. In addition, the office is responsible for most of the other functions performed by the Bulawayo Information and Public Relations office. The Harare office coordinates the activities of The Friends of NUST Committee, The NUST Alumni Harare Chapter and the National Fundraising Committee Harare branch.
Alumni Vision
To be a contemporary alumni association that nurtures positive interactions that yield progressive benefits to its members, NUST, the industry and the society.

Alumni Mission

To build and nurture an organic and contemporary alumni culture that proficiently promotes mutually progressive activities and interactions amongst its members and NUST, and to develop a focused and effective pursuance of congruent activities with the industry and the entirety of society.The NUST Alumni has two chapters, one in Harare and the other in Bulawayo. All those who obtained their first degree at NUST qualify. For further details contact the Information and Public Relations Department
The Information and Public Relations Department runs and manages the NUST Development Fund. This is a fundraising campaign with a slogan “Investing in the future”. The money raised is used to equip the University especially with teaching equipment for the new laboratories a number of which are still under construction.
