NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the following posts in the Faculty of Applied Science: -
- LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP
(3 POSTS)
Department of Radiography
Applicants must hold a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree in any of the specialities in Radiography (Medical Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Radionuclide Imaging or Radiotherapy). A higher qualification in any of the above disciplines and or proof of active research in the form of published papers shall be a definite advantage.
The successful applicants are expected to teach basic Radiography taught to undergraduates at First and Second year levels at the University, as well as elective courses taught at Third and Fourth year level in their areas of specialisation. In addition, they will be expected to assist on the MSc Programmes in the Department. The successful applicant shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require her/him to be actively engaged in meaningful research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, s/he shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster collaborative research within the Department, Faculty and with other Institutions.
- CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR/TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Radiography
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Radiography. Additional qualifications in CT, MRI, RNI, and M/U or a master’s qualification will be an added advantage. In addition to formal education qualifications, the individual should be clinically competent, registered or be eligible for registration with the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and should have a valid practicing certificate. Experience in a clinical radiology position is crucial. Exposure to a wide variety of imaging modalities will be an added advantage. The incumbent should have a passion for teaching students, be patient, and possess good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to provide detailed instruction to students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and Responsibilities will include the following:
- To provide hands-on and classroom instruction in the use of clinical radiology equipment, such as x-ray machines, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, computed tomography(CT) scanners, Ultrasound equipment, Fluoroscopy Equipment and any other equipment in the diagnostic imaging department.
- To teach students proper housekeeping, adhering to local rules, infection control protocols, radiation protection, lifting techniques, good inter-professional skills and good communication skills.
- To conduct clinical assessments (continuous, staged clinical assessments, Viva voce, OSCES, case studies, written reports) and any other forms of assessments consistent with the level of training of the students.
- To coordinate students’ clinical placements to allow for comprehensive clinical learning on the wide range of radiology equipment.
- To conduct clinical visits.
- To keep records of students clinical learning profiles and recommend remedial actions where required.
- TECHNNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Applied Mathematics
Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science and at least two (2) years post-qualification experience OR a Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and one (1) year post-qualification experience. Experience in software development and network administration will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will report and be accountable to the Chairman of the Department. He/She will be responsible for software development in the Department and customization of existent software or applications. He/She will also provide hardware and software support of all network equipment in the Departmental laboratory.
