NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite skills and experience for the following posts in the Faculty of The Built Environment:
- LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (6 POSTS)
Department of Architecture
POST A: (1 POST)
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Architectural Studies Honours or equivalent, and a related Master’s Degree in Architecture equivalent. An earned Ph.D. is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, and to teach the Design Studio as well as the following modules: Building Construction; Building Services; Building Design Economics; Research Methods. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
POST B: (1 POST)
Architecture equivalent. An earned Ph.D. is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, and to teach the Design Studio as well as the following modules: Environmental Design; Issues of Sustainable Design; Environmental Impact Assessment; Safety, Health & Environment. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
POST C: (1 POST)
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Architectural Studies Honours or equivalent, and a related Master’s Degree in Architecture equivalent. An earned Ph.D. is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, and to teach the Design Studio as well as the following modules: Computer Aided Architectural Design; Building Information Modelling (BIM); Architectural Presentation Techniques & Descriptive Geometry. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
POST D: (1 POST)
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Architectural Studies Honours or equivalent, and a related Master’s Degree in Architecture equivalent. An earned Ph.D. is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, and to teach the Design Studio as well as the following modules: History & Theory of Architecture; Contemporary History & Theory of Architecture; Housing. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
POST E: CIVIL ENGINEERING (1 POST)
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent, and a related Master’s Degree in the Built Environment. An earned Ph.D. is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, including teaching the following modules in the Department of Architecture: Engineering Surveying; Structural Design; GIS & Earth Observation; Safety Health & Construction Environments. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
POST F: (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Rural and Urban Planning or an equivalent field, and a related Master’s degree in Physical Planning and Urban Design or an equivalent field. An earned PhD is required for applicants to the Associate Professorship or Professorship. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will be an added advantage. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, including teaching the following modules in the Department of Architecture: Spatial Planning; Housing; Research Methods; Topics in Urban Design; Topics in Rural Design. Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution, which includes a portfolio of major design works, may be required.
- SENIOR/ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Architecture
Applicants must hold a minimum of a National Diploma in Architectural Technology or an equivalent qualification. Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an architectural office. A portfolio of major design drawing works is a must. Successful applicants should be competent to fulfil the requirements of Education 5.0, including assisting students in the Computer Lab, Architectural Drafting, as well as in the Faculty Consultancy Unit activities.
- LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (7 POSTS)
Department of Construction Management
POST A: COSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT (3 POSTS)
Applicants must have at least a degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying plus a Masters Degree or MPhil in Construction Management, Construction Project Management, Construction Economics. A PhD in Construction Management, Construction Economics and/ or registration with a professional body will be an added advantage. Successful candidates should be capable of teaching the following: - Theory and Practices of Construction Management, Construction Economics, Built Environment Sectors, Site Management, Professional Practice and Procedure, Research Skills, Construction Contract Administration, Safety and Health, Construction Technology, Construction Management Research Project and Construction Project Finance.
POST B: CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING/CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIST (3 POSTS)
Applicants must have at least a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Engineering plus a Masters Degree or MPhil in Construction Project Management, Urban Design, Construction Management or Civil Engineering Discipline. A PhD in Construction Management, Civil Engineering and/ or registration with a professional body will be an added advantage. Successful candidates should be capable of teaching across a range of traditional and contemporary subjects including the following: Site Surveying, Engineering Surveying and Structural Design.
POST C: CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Applicants must have at least a Diploma in Construction Technology, Higher National Diploma in Construction Technology, or a Degree in Construction Management Successful candidates should be capable of conducting the following: site visits of live construction projects, guide students in different construction management software.

Department of Quantity Surveying
POST A: QUANTITY SURVEYING (8 POSTS)
Candidates must have at least an upper second class degree in Quantity Surveying. In addition, the candidate should hold at least a Masters Degree or MPhil in Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, Construction Management or Construction Economics. A PhD in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Economics and/ or registration with a professional body will be an added advantage. Candidates should be capable of teaching the following: - Construction Site Management, Measurement, Safety and Health, Construction Economics, Construction Accounting, Construction Finance and Construction Law.
POST B: ARCHITECTURE (1 POST)
Candidates must have at least an upper second class degree in Architectural Studies. In addition, the candidate should hold at least a Masters Degree or MPhil in Architecture, Construction Project Management, Construction Management or Construction Economics. A PhD in Architecture, Construction Project Management, Construction Management or Construction Economics, and/ or registration with a professional body will be an added advantage. Candidates should be capable of teaching the following: -. Construction Drawing, Building Services, Construction Technology, Construction Materials.
- TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Property Studies and Urban Design
Applicants must have a Diploma in Town Planning/Architecture or equivalent and three years’ post-qualification experience; or a Degree in Urban Planning/Architecture or equivalent and one-year post-qualification experience. Applicants must have experience and possess intimate knowledge of design software applications such as excel, AutoCAD, ArchCAD and SketchUp. Industrial certification in design software shall be an added advantage. This position requires someone who will work closely with Lecturers and Students as well as other senior managers.
