NUST Students Embark on Prestigious Erasmus Programme at Uppsala University
The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) continues to prove that choosing to study here is not just about earning a degree but also about unlocking a world of possibilities. This week, the university proudly bade farewell to six exceptional students selected for the 2025 Erasmus Student Mobility Programme at Uppsala University in Sweden.
The send-off ceremony, held at NUST Council Chambers, was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Dlodlo, who encouraged the students to embrace the journey ahead with curiosity, courage, and commitment. He described the opportunity as a thrilling academic and cultural adventure that will shape their future in ways far beyond the classroom.
The Erasmus Programme is one of the most prestigious international student mobility initiatives, offering participants a chance to study abroad, gain global perspectives, and build lasting international networks. Uppsala University, renowned for its academic excellence and vibrant multicultural environment, will host the students for the duration of their programme.
The students selected for this opportunity are Costa Musandipa and Godfrey Mtunzi from the Department of Finance and Fiscal Sciences in the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences. The two will be hosted in the Departments of Business Studies and Statistics and Information Technology, respectively. Fortunes Felix Matutu from the Department of Forest Resources and Wildlife Management in the Faculty of Environmental Science will be hosted in the Biology Education Centre. Aaron Nvoni from the Department of Statistics and Operations Research in the Faculty of Applied Science will be hosted at the Department of Statistics, Mathematics and Information Technology. Hilda Vimbai Kaitano from the Department of Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering will be visiting the Department of Chemistry, while Zivanai Kandenga from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, also in the Faculty of Engineering, will be housed in the Civil and Industrial Engineering Department.
These students represent the diversity and excellence of NUST’s academic programs, and their selection is a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing globally competitive graduates.
At NUST, the academic path is anything but linear. It’s a dynamic journey filled with opportunities for growth, innovation, and global engagement. When students fully embrace what NUST offers, from research and innovation hubs to international partnerships, they open doors that lead to transformative experiences like Erasmus.
NUST and Uppsala University share a longstanding partnership that has lasted decades and has seen dozens of academic staff and students benefit from the friendship. This enduring collaboration continues to enrich both institutions through shared research, mobility programmes, and cultural exchange.
Meanwhile, as these students begin their journey abroad, NUST is preparing to welcome a new cohort of students during Orientation Week, running from 25th to 29th August 2025. Orientation is designed to help new students discover the full spectrum of services available on campus, from academic support and student clubs to health services and career guidance.
New students will be introduced to their programme venues, receive timetables and student cards, and explore how to make the most of their time at NUST. It’s the first step in what promises to be an exciting academic adventure.
NUST continues to champion excellence, innovation, and global relevance. Whether you're heading to Sweden or stepping onto our campus for the first time, the journey begins here, and it’s anything but ordinary.
