The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has bid farewell to seven undergraduate and postgraduate students embarking on the 2026 Student Mobility Exchange Programme in Latvia and Sweden.
The initiative marks another milestone in NUST’s expanding international partnerships and commitment to global academic collaboration.
The exchange programme, developed through strategic alliances with leading European institutions, aims to foster academic excellence, cultural immersion and leadership development.
Speaking at the send-off ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mqhele Dlodlo, urged the students to serve as proud ambassadors of Zimbabwe, their families and the university.
“Your conduct abroad reflects not only on yourselves but also on your families, the university and the country. Represent Zimbabwe with professionalism, discipline and pride,” he said.
Prof Dlodlo emphasized that the programme extends beyond academics, offering opportunities for personal growth, self-discovery and exposure to diverse cultures. He encouraged the students to embrace humility, curiosity, and openness, while preparing for challenges such as cold weather, academic pressure and culture shock.
“These challenges are not signs of weakness. They are stepping stones towards growth and transformation,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the importance of sharing experiences upon their return, noting that both fellow students and staff would benefit from the knowledge gained abroad.
