HARARE, 5 November 2026 – The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) this week hosted 61 students from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) at its Headquarters in Harare for a workshop on the country's cyber and data protection law.
The students are Part 2 learners from the August and March Intakes of the Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Management and Technology.
Held in the POTRAZ HQ Auditorium under the theme "The Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] (No. 5 of 2021) and its Impact on the Management of Digital Records and Archives." the workshop was a field trip that falls under the annual study programme for the department.
Expert presentations
The day closed with a question and answer session, in which students engaged the facilitators on these issues and more, gaining some grounding and understanding of what the law means for their future work as data and information managers, records administrators and archivists.
Learning beyond the lecture room
In a vote of thanks, NUST expressed its gratitude to POTRAZ for hosting the students and sharing its expertise. The University said the visit gave students more than classroom theory, showing them how what they have learnt is applied in industry.
