The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) community is set to come together for the highly anticipated Vice-Chancellor's Games, scheduled to take place this Friday, 25 September 2026, at the NUST Sports Field.
This year's event promises an exciting day of competition and camaraderie, offering the perfect opportunity for staff and students to unwind following the 32nd graduation festivities.
All staff and students are invited to participate in a massive lineup of 14 different sports and activities.
From the track and field of Athletics to the strategic gameplay of Chess, Darts, and Pool, there is something for everyone.
The action doesn't stop there, participants can also look forward to Golf, Netball, Soccer, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Traditional Games, Tug of War, and a vibrant Culture Display.
The overall event is organized by a committee of staff members supporteb by the institution’s management and Student’s Representative Council (SRC)
Eng. Mnkandla highlighted the significance of the annual event.
“It is an annual event held soon after the graduation meant to commend the work done by staff and in honour of the VC’s leadership," he said. "The games brings together student and staff teams." he added.
The games were organised with the efforts of SRC Minister of Sports and Recreation, Pardon Wandura, whose office helps bridge the gap between the student body and the organising committee.
Echoing the spirit of the games, the SRC Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Pardon Wandura, emphasised the deeper purpose of the event.
"The games are for unity and social cohesion... On the field of play, there is no lecturer and student, no junior and senior. There is only one team. Sport breaks down barriers, builds friendships, and strengthens the spirit of comradeship that our institution needs," said Hon. Wandura. "Sport is not a distraction from work, but it is what makes the work sustainable."
Whether you are competing for the top prize or cheering from the sidelines, come out to the NUST grounds this Friday to show your university spirit and make this year's VC Games unforgettable!
