Hausitoe Nare is the former Department of Statistics and Operations Research Chairperson. He has held this position from September 2020 to March 2024. He joined the University as a Lecturer in October 2007. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer with effect from 1 January 2023. He has held other positions within the Department and the University. These include being the examinations for the Department for 7 years between 2012 and 2019 as well as being Faculty of Applied Science representative on the Senate ICT committee.
During his tenure as Chairperson, Mr Nare oversaw the introduction of the Bachelor of Science honours degree in Business Analytics program in August 2021 as well revision of the Bachelor of Science honours degree and Master of Degree in Operations Research and Statistics curricula.
His research interests include statistics of extremes, generalised linear models and financial econometrics. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals.
Mr Nare earned his Bachelor of Science honours degree in Applied Mathematics, Master of Science degree in Operations Research and Post-graduate diploma in Higher Education from the National University of Science and Technology.
