The Department of Business Management, housed in the Faculty of Commerce, offers a curriculum which is addressed to students who wish to be distinguished as senior and top executives in the private and public sector. With a staff complement of 15 full time academics, 5 part time academic staff and 2 administrative staff, we teach over 300 undergraduate students each year.
We offer a range of innovative and relevant undergraduate modules in the areas of human resources, employment relations, international business management, operations and supply chain, strategic management, corporate governance and ethics, entrepreneurship, public sector management and organisational studies.
We are committed to enhancing our students’ ability to engage creatively and successfully in a global environment and strive for excellence in all aspects of our research, teaching, university service and administrative activities. We have a strong commitment to producing high-quality research which has influence in the academic community, as well as relevance to industry. To complement the academic research strengths that lie in the modules, we delight in the value we add to our students from the practical experience they get by going on industrial attachment for a full year as part of their studies.

Undegraduate Degree Programmes
Entry Requirements
Normal Entry
To qualify for normal entry into the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Management Programme, applicants in addition to satisfying the minimum conditions prescribed under the General Regulations and the Faculty Regulations for English Language and Mathematics, must have passed any two subjects at ‘A’ level.
Special Entry
Applicants should be holders of a National Diploma in Management or its equivalence to be accepted to Part I and a Higher National Diploma to be accepted to Part II. In addition to satisfying the minimum conditions prescribed under the General Regulations for five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics.
Mature Entry
For mature entry applicants must have suitable or relevant post-school experience and who satisfy the University and the Department of their ability to complete a degree course satisfactorily.
Career Prospects
Holders of a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree in Management fit easily into many different organisations and easily across functional boundaries within the organisations that they work. Graduates should find careers in the:
- Banking industry
- Public Sector
- Quasi-governmental organisations, and
- Commercial Private Sector firms,
as Human Resource practitioners, Training & Development specialists, Human Resource Consultants, Logistics and Supply Chain managers, Business Analysts, and Operations Managers.
Postgraduate Degree Programmes
Entry Requirements
To be considered for admission to the programme, a candidate should be a holder of an honours degree from a recognized university in a business-related field.
