Mr Musa Nyathi : Chairperson
The Department of Business Management, housed in the Faculty of Commerce, offers a curriculum which is addressed to students who wish to be distinguished as senior and top executives in the private and public sector. With a staff complement of 15 full time academics, 5 part time academic staff and 2 administrative staff, we teach over 300 undergraduate students each year.
We offer a range of innovative and relevant undergraduate modules in the areas of human resources, employment relations, international business management, operations and supply chain, strategic management, corporate governance and ethics, entrepreneurship, public sector management and organisational studies.
We are committed to enhancing our students’ ability to engage creatively and successfully in a global environment and strive for excellence in all aspects of our research, teaching, university service and administrative activities. We have a strong commitment to producing high-quality research which has influence in the academic community, as well as relevance to industry. To complement the academic research strengths that lie in the modules, we delight in the value we add to our students from the practical experience they get by going on industrial attachment for a full year as part of their studies.
The department values diversity in all our stakeholders, research interests and teaching styles, and we aim to promote a collegiate and inclusive environment in which we treat our students, staff and other stakeholders with fairness and respect.
We pride ourselves in the extensive engagement with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors and we strongly support the principles for responsible management education and sustainable development
