Biography
Dr. Fumiso Muyambo is a dedicated lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) with almost six years of experience in higher education and thirteen years of research across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Australia. She holds a PhD in Disaster Management, focusing on developing a resilience model through multi-hazard risk analysis for extreme weather events in Qwaqwa, South Africa.
Dr. Muyambo’s Master’s degree in Disaster Management informs her interest in the challenges faced by rural communities due to drought. Her research aims to enhance disaster risk reduction strategies and foster resilience among vulnerable populations.
In addition to disaster risk management-related research, she has co-authored multiple papers on Lean methods in healthcare for rural and remote hospitals in Australia. Her interdisciplinary expertise includes disaster risk management, health services, counselling, political science, and HIV/AIDS care and support.
Dr. Muyambo has supervised two postgraduate students, examined multiple maters dissertations, and published 17 research papers. She has also organized and presented at 19 workshops and shared findings at four conferences. Her international experience enriches her understanding of global challenges, enhancing her ability to engage with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Muyambo is committed to advancing knowledge in disaster risk reduction and health services.
