Biography

Mrs Dube Siphephisiwe is an educator with over 15 years of experience spanning secondary, tertiary, and community-based education in Zimbabwe. Currently a lecturer in Urban Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, Disasters and Responses modules at the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe. Being a doctoral candidate in Social Science (Geography) Education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Lecturer, her work spans climate change, disasters and responses, disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, urban disaster risk management, natural resources management and the application of artificial intelligence to build resilience.  She has successfully led high-impact community development work on climate change mitigation and adaptation in the Lupane district.

In academia, Siphephisiwe Dube has supervised only two postgraduate students, published in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively engaged in applied research and outreach initiatives, focusing on community projects that inform climate education and policy, particularly in climate-vulnerable communities. She also has a keen interest in participating in international conferences and giving presentations. Dube is a competent researcher who brings a wealth of experience in formulating research problems, managing the research process, collecting, processing, analysing, and presenting data.

  • Diploma in Education (Hillside Teachers’ College)

 

Research interests

Climate change mitigation and adaptation, urban disasters, disaster risk reduction, water security and access, natural resource management, environmental sustainability, and food security.
