Highlights of the 2025 Breakfast Seminar

On the 1st of September 2025, the Department of Quantity Surveying in the Faculty of The Built
Environment hosted a collaborative seminar with the Zimbabwe Institute of Quantity Surveyors
(ZIQS) and the Quantity Surveyors Council of Zimbabwe (QSCZ), aimed at strengthening ties between academia and the professional quantity surveying community. The programme featured
presentations from ZIQS and QSCZ leadership, focusing on joint initiatives such as curriculum
development, short courses, student attachments, staff exchanges, and professional registration.
Discussions also covered the roles and responsibilities of both organisations, the benefits of membership, regional integration, and ethical standards within the profession. Contributions from NUST students and staff enriched the dialogue. The seminar served as a platform to align
educational outcomes with industry expectations and promote professional growth among future
quantity surveyors.
