Toilet Day 2025
On 19 November 2025, Civil and Water Engineering students from the National University of Science and Technology engaged with NUST FM in commemoration of World Toilet Day to raise awareness on the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene in sustainable development. The discussion defined proper sanitation as the provision of safe, accessible, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable facilities that ensure the hygienic separation, treatment, and responsible management of human waste to safeguard public health and protect water resources. The students emphasised the critical role of civil and water engineers in planning, designing, and maintaining resilient sanitation infrastructure that meets both technical standards and community needs. Particular focus was placed on advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6 and accelerating progress toward sanitation for all by 2030, especially in often overlooked public spaces such as bus termini, marketplaces, and community centres where inadequate facilities pose significant health and environmental risks.
