Prof. Notice Pasipamire

Associate Professor and Chairperson

Professor Notice Pasipamire began his academic journey in the Department in 2008 as a Teaching Assistant. Following the completion of his Master of Philosophy degree, he was appointed as a temporary full‑time lecturer in 2012 and became a substantive full‑time lecturer in 2013. In February 2022, he assumed the role of Acting Chairperson of the Department, and by March 2022 he was confirmed as Chairperson. His career progression continued with his promotion to Senior Lecturer in January 2023. Prof. Pasipamire holds a Doctorate in Information Studies from the University of KwaZulu‑Natal (South Africa), a Master of Philosophy in Library and Information Science from NUST, a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from NUST, and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Library and Information Science from NUST. He specializes in teaching Project Management and Research Methods at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His scholarly contributions include book chapters and peer‑reviewed journal articles on topics such as indigenous knowledge, research methods, research support, and Library and Information Science education. His current research focuses on digital literacies, artificial intelligence (AI), and AI literacies, advancing debates on how these shape education, knowledge systems, and professional practice. Prof. Pasipamire is an active member of various professional bodies, which represents and advocates for information professionals worldwide.
