NUST Graduate School of Business is now a registered Association of African Business Schools (AABS) member.
- Brief Background of the Graduate School of Business
The Graduate School of Business, established in 1997 with the assistance of Birmingham University in the UK, is a unit within the Faculty of Commerce at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. NUST was established as a legal entity on the 21st December 1990 when the National University of Science and Technology Act, 1990: Section 4 was published in the Government Gazette.
- The aims of the School are as follows:
(a)To produce innovative, creative, entrepreneurial, and techno-driven world-class students.
(b)To equip managers with theory, practical knowledge, and skills to compete in this increasingly complex and highly competitive digital era.
(c) To train managers to embrace a workforce from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
(d) To produce well-rounded graduates of integrity who are sought after across the globe.
- Role and Contribution of the School to National Development Guided by Heritage-Based Education 5.0.
GSB contributes to inclusive economic and social development through its interdisciplinary teaching and research. The alumni that GSB produces are making a difference in the lives and livelihoods of society.
Some of the contributions/achievements/ milestones of the School since its establishment
- The Graduate School of Business boasts of churning out highly reputable academic and business specialists who are the envy of many. These graduates specialised in various degree programmes such as the General Master of Business Administration (GMBA), the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), and the Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management (SMBA). The Graduate School of Business has also produced several PhD graduates who are leaders of several business organisations and the community at large.
- 2 MOUs: with the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management (ZIPAM); and Africa Leadership and Management Academy (ALMA)
- 3 Post-Doctoral Fellows
- Held two successful fundraising functions:
- 02 September 2022. Theme: ‘Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry.’
Outcome: Registration of the NUST, GSB with the Association of African Business Schools.
- 14 July 2023, Research Symposium on Emerging Technologies in the 4IR.
Theme- “Fostering Collaborations Between Academia and Industry for National Development in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
- Outcome: Purchase of a generator for the School:
- Held a successful online Public Lecture on Cyber Security & Cybercrime Awareness on 29 November 2023.
- Organized a successful Writing Retreat-23 to 24 January 2024 at Sethule Lodge, Bulawayo
- An increase in the number of staff members with PhD Degrees
- Setting up of a functional NUST, GSB Advisory Board
- An increase in the number of publications
- Hosted Visiting Professors
- NUST, GSB has been selected to host the AABS Deans and Directors’ Forum in 2026 in Victoria Falls
Our Programmes
To be considered for admission to the MBA Degree Programme an applicant should normally have:
- A minimum of a first degree in relevant areas plus at least 2 years post graduate work experience.
