Vacancies : Faculty of Medicine

Applications are invited for the following posts: - 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)

Department of Anatomy and Physiology (Physiology) 

Applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M. Med, FCPath, FRCP, FRCS, FFR, FCR, FCOSECSA, FRCOG or similar.  Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Anatomy and Physiology (Anatomy) 

Applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree and/ or specialist qualification such as M. Med, FCPath, FRCP, FRCS, FFR, FCR, FCOSECSA, FRCOG or similar.  Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)

Department of Community Medicine 

Applicants must be holders of a minimum qualification of an MBBS or MBChB and a relevant Ph.D. Degree or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Occupational Health and Biostatistics, or similar and registrable on the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)

Department of Medicine 

Applicants must have a minimum qualification of a relevant PhD Degree, Masters Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M. Med (Medicine), Masters of Radiotherapy and Oncology, MBChB,  or equivalent and registrable with the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).  Proven Teaching or research background would be an added advantage.  Further, applicants must be self-motivated and willing to work with a small, but dynamic team.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology 

Applicants must hold a minimum qualification of a relevant PhD Degree,  Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M. Med in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MRCOG, FRCOG or similar and registrable on the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).  Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Surgery and Anaesthetics 

Applicants must possess a minimum qualification of a relevant PhD Degree,  Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M. Med in Neuro Surgery or similar and registrable on the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology (Clinical Pharmacology) 

Applicants should hold a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M.Med, FCPath, FRCP, FRCS, FFR, FCR, FCOSECSA, FRCOG or similar.  Teaching and research experience will be an added advantage.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)

Department of Paediatrics 

Applicants must be in possession of a minimum qualification of a relevant Master’s Degree and/or specialist qualification such as Masters in Paediatrics (M. Med, MRCP, FCP ) or a higher qualification and registrable with the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).  A PhD qualification, as well as proven Teaching or research background, would be added advantages.  Further, applicants must be self motivated and willing to work with a small, but dynamic team.

 

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)

Department of Psychiatry 

Applicants must possess a minimum qualification of a relevant Masters Degree and/or specialist qualification such as M. Med (Psychiatry), MBChB or equivalent.  A PhD qualification would be an added advantage.  The applicants must be registrable with the specialist register of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).  A proven teaching or research background would be an added advantage.  In addition, the applicants must be self motivated and willing to work with a small, but dynamic team.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Pathology (Clinical Haematology) 

Applicants must be in possession of a Medical Degree registrable with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).
The applicant will study towards the Masters in Medicine (Haematology) or equivalent which must lead to both Clinical and Laboratory haematology practice. Senior registrars who have qualified in either Clinical or Laboratory Haematology practice can apply for them to complete the missing part.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Pathology (Immunology) 

Applicants must possess a Medical Degree registrable with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ).  

The applicant will study towards the Masters in Medicine (Immunology) or equivalent which must lead to both Clinical and Laboratory immunology practice. Senior registrars who have qualified in either Clinical or Laboratory Immunology practice can apply for them to complete the missing part.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (5 POSTS)

Department of Medicine 

Applicants should be eligible for M. Med, and must be holders of a relevant MBChB/MBBS qualification. Further, they must be interested in teaching and research in Cardiology, Adult Medicine, Gastroenterology and Pulmonology.  Applicants should have successfully completed the period of mandatory internship as prescribed by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). 

Successful candidates will be expected to register for a Masters in Medicine, Cardiology, Adult Medicine, Gastroenterology and Pulmonology within a period of six (6) months of appointment.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (4 POSTS)

Department of Surgery and Anaesthetics 

Applicants should be eligible for M. Med and must hold a relevant MBChB/MBBS qualification. Further, applicants must be interested in teaching and research in Radiology, Interventional Radiology, ENT Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery.  The applicants should have successfully completed the period of mandatory internship as prescribed by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). 

Successful candidates will be expected to register for a Masters in Radiology, Interventional Radiology, ENT Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery within a period of six (6) months of appointment.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (1 POST)

Department of Paediatrics 

Applicants must hold a relevant MBChB/MBBS qualification and must be interested in teaching and research in Paediatric Cardiology, Nephrology, Pulmonology or Neurology.  In addition, applicants are expected to be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ). Current enrolment in the M. Med or Subspecialisation would be an added advantage. 

The successful candidate will be expected to register for a Masters in Paediatric Subspecialisation within the first (6) months of taking up appointment at the University.

 

STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP (2 POSTS)

Department of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences

Applications must be eligible for the Master of Science Degree in Paediatric Nursing and must be holders of a minimum of a First Degree in Nursing. Further, they must be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and must have a current practising certificate.  Experience and interest in teaching and research will be advantageous.
