BE YOUR OWN HEROES!!! NUST ALUMNI TELL STUDENTS

FORMER National University of Science and Technology (NUST) graduates Dr Mthulisi Khupe and Dr Kudzai Chipongo today had a mentorship guest lecture with students in the Department of Fibre and Polymer Materials Engineering at the University’s Council Chamber.

Dr Khupe, a Fibre and Polymer Materials graduate advised students to be their own heroes who will tirelessly work in achieving their set goals, a strategy which he said worked for him in his career path.

“If you are not your hero, someone else will is going to be your hero. But if you are your hero, you are going to make sure that you actually succeed in what you do,” said Dr Khupe.

“Be always on the lookout for opportunities, whether it is in newspaper advertisement or on the internet. Never underestimate any opportunity that comes your way, “he added.

Dr Khupe did his post graduate degree studies at Leeds University in the United Kingdom through a full sponsorship from Beit Trust. He is currently a Post Doctoral Researcher at the Royal College of Surgery in Ireland.

Dr Chipongo, a NUST Civil Engineering graduate who is an engineering lecturer at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, said she is working on establishing relations between NUST and Edith Cowan. She said these relations would help both universities to produce top notch students as well as collaborating in development researches.
