QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must hold a Masters Degree in Applied Microbiology or Biotechnology plus at least two years of work experience in an academic or research environment. A PhD in the same fields will be an added advantage. The incumbent must have experience in Environmental Microbiology or Environmental Biotechnology, research specifically in the area of renewable bio-energy.
DUTIES
The incumbent will be expected to conduct research leading to the development of prototypes of biomass-based renewable energy products and systems.

POST: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/SENIOR MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST (1 POST)
FACULTY: MEDICINE
DEPARTMENT: BIOCHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGY
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess a General Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Sciences or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent, and two years relevant experience.
POST: SOFTWARE ENGINEER ( 2 POSTS)
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must hold a degree in a Computing Science Discipline or Electronic Engineering or Information Technology or accredited equivalent qualification from a recognised University or Institution at BSc Level. The successful candidate must be conversant with the full systems development life cycle and have a thorough working knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server database development tools. Further she or he must be capable of providing support to common desktop software, such as MS Office suite. In addition, the incumbent must have an excellent working knowledge of at least two of the following C, C++, ASP, JAVA, HTML, XML and Visual Basic. He/She must have good communication skills and leadership qualities.
Applicants normally should have three (3) years relevant post qualification experience. One or all of the following would be a definite advantage : - experience in setting up E-mail and Web servers; working knowledge of Unix and/or Linus; working knowledge of the United Modelling Language; Microsoft certification and experience in the training of personnel in computer related courses. The incumbent will be responsible to the Director of Information Technology Services and reports to the Systems Manager in the ICTS establishment.
POST: TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN ( 2 POSTS)
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma in Telecommunications Information Technology/Electronics/Computer Science or equivalent and 3 years post-qualification experience or a Degree in Telecommunications or Information Technology with an emphasis to Telecommunications or equivalent and 1 year relevant experience in a Telecommunication environment with telephony services. Applicants must have experience in maintenance of modem PABX systems from one of the leading brands, preferably Siemens.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Incumbent will be expected to provide support and maintenance of telephone handsets whether cordless/wired, fax machines of different types and direct lines in the University. He/She should be able to work under pressure and in a large community of users. The Incumbent will be responsible to the Director of Information and Communication Technology Service and reports to the Network Manager in the ICTS establishment.
POST: COMPUTER HARDWARE TECHNICIAN ( 1 POST)
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma and 3 years post-qualification experience or a Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent and 1 year post-qualification experience. Applicants must have experience in both hardware and software maintenance, as well as possess intimate knowledge of Office Software applications and Microsoft Windows operating system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the Information and Communication Service Department workshop. This will include the hardware and software technical support of computers running in the University Local Area Network. The Incumbent will be responsible to the Director of Information and Communication Technology Service and reports to the User Support Manager in the ICTS establishment.
POST: TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
DEPARTMENT:CENTRE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma and 3 years post-qualification experience or a Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent and 1 year post-qualification experience. Applicants must have experience in software development and network administration. Digital Skills Licenses/ICDL, A+ and N+ and knowledge of Marketing will be an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for overall maintenance and management of all IT equipment and programmes as well as teaching and training Digital Skills License, A+ and N+.
